| The Allegretto
Wave Eye-Q excimer laser system, designed by WaveLight Laser Technologies AG
was specifically designed to perform wavefront-optimized ablation profiles.
With a repetition rate of 400 pulses per second, WaveLight's laser is the
fastest on the market today. It has a spot size (0.68 mm) and can treat one
diopter of prescription every 2 seconds. This rapid treatment speed translates
into less dehydration of the corneal bed and improved refractive predictability
due to fewer hydration changes. The laser is very reliable, extremely quick,
highly accurate, and has a fast-responding infrared eye tracker. Allegretto Wave offers a customized treatment that incorporates wavefront principles to patients with nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. Every procedure is tailored to the patients' corneal curvature and refraction with the intention to preserve the natural aspheric cornea shape and to maintain or improve quality of vision and visual acuity. Allegretto Wave relies on its PerfectPulse Technology to accurately control the exact placement of every pulse as it reaches the eye. The WaveLight laser then uses this information to create a precise treatment with an accurate and predictable outcome. Allegretto Wave uses a very small laser beam that shapes the eye's surface like a very delicate brush. The smooth shape of the beam creates an even surface across the entire eye, once again shortening healing times and providing precise results. Active Eye Tracker (a component of PerfectPulse): Synchronously tracks the Allegretto Wave in real time during the procedure to ensure the highest possible accuracy. An automatic centering feature facilitates centered ablations and a Closed Loop Tracking mode double checks the location of the eye before each pulse of the laser. In cases of aberrant eye movement, the active eye tracker responds in less than 8ms. Allegretto Wave treats larger area of the eye than most lasers to reduce common side effects such as halos. |
