Technolas 217z Zyoptix 100

This laser utilizes the newest generation flying spot technology with a 1mm and 2mm truncated Gaussian beam for fast treatment times and a smooth corneal surface. It has the active scanner feedback mechanism that provides the quality control during the procedure by monitoring the accuracy of each pulse placement.

The breakthrough Iris Recognition technology scans the irises during the Zywave™ measurement and maps the entire iris, generating a unique digital Zy-Id™ for each eye. This map of the iris forms the foundation from which the Multi-Dimensional Eyetracker operates. Like the fingerprints, no two irises are the same and can be used to provide a unique identification during treatment. This only ensures that the correct eye is treated and the highest level of safety and accuracy is used for the personalised vision correction.
The Multi-Dimensional Eyetracker on the Zyoptix 100 system has a few additional features. Whilst it still compensates for the undetectable small movements and/or stops laser from firing when the movement is too large and target becomes out of range, it also offers: a faster reaction time of 6.6 milliseconds & the ability to not only track movements in the horizontal (x-plane) or vertical (y-plane) dimension, but also in the 3rd dimension (z-plane). The ability to compensate for more complex movements of the pupil and eye. In a small number of cases, pupils dilate/open up unevenly (called ‘Pupil Shift’) or eyes turn off-axis when you lie flat (called ‘cyclotorsion’). The Eyetracker compensates for this automatically.

The eyetracker is a highly sophisticated safety device that tracks tiny eye movements and guides the laser to follow them. During treatment, your eyes make small movements almost undetectable to the human eye. The Eyetracker ensures that the laser follows these small movements. If the movement is too large for the laser to place the beam accurately, the Eyetracker will force the laser to stop until the eye is in the correct position again.
