Dr Chua Chung Nen obtained his medical degree from Nottingham's Queens Medical Centre, UK. After his house officer years, he did his medical training in General Medical and obtained his MRCP from London Royal College of Physicians.
He did his Ophthalmology in Oxford Eye Hospital, UK from 1997-2001 and obtained the Certificate of Completion of Surgical Training from London General Medical Council. He also did a year of fellowship training in Oculoplastic surgery in South Thames Deanery.
He worked a few years as consultant in the U.K. before returning to Malaysia and took up the Professorship. He was the Head of Department in Eye Department of Unimas in Sarawak from 2006-2016.
He has a wide experience in cataract surgery, pterygium, glaucoma and strabismus surgery. He has performed over ten thousand cataract surgery.
He has special interest in eyelid surgery, upper blepharoplasty, eyebag surgery and ptosis.
He has published over 20 papers in peer-reviewed journals and gave talks in Conferences in the U.K., Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore. And has published over 15 books for ophthalmology trainees.
